Pursuing peace in the city of New Haven

No one should live in fear of violence and no child should grow up having experienced violence.

Too many neighborhoods regularly experience the threat of homicide.

Too many mothers, fathers, sons, and daughters have been killed.

When will peace be a practical reality instead of simply a prayer?

Providing compassionate outreach when it happens.

When violence happens, we grieve together. As we mourn each life lost through simple liturgies for homicide at the sites of those slain, something inside of us changes and compels us to action.

As we act, we make our love public by supporting the affected families, the neighborhood, and each other.

Lasting peace for the city of New Haven. Because in its peace we find our own.

Our goal is simple: Zero homicides every day, every month, and every year. On many days we get to zero. Some days we don't.

Our story is still unfolding. Signs of hope include a decrease in overall shootings in New Haven, with dramatically fewer in certain neighborhoods, as well as a decline in the rate of unsolved homicides.

Until our goal is reached, we will continue to call for the weapons to drop so that we all can live in lasting peace.
