Geared towards kids, open to all! Come to our MLK Family Day featuring stories, activities, and songs from the Civil Rights Movement. This historic movement rooted in the Church wasn’t just a movement for adults, kids helped lead the way too. Learn their story and how our stories also intersect with the God many of these kids and adults worshipped. Details TBA in the new year, but save the date for an activity in the late morning or early afternoon.
We’ve already had some kiddos learn and practice three songs. There is still an opportunity for your kids to join. We’ll have one more rehearsal this Saturday at 10:00am at The Rose Center (101 Ashmun St).
Have your child come prepared with sixty seconds memorized of any part of the famous “I Have A Dream” speech delivered by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. They’ll have an opportunity to recite their selection to the group.
Kids will have an opportunity to create a poster during our time to reflect on the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. There will be prizes!
Our goal is for each student to raise a minimum of $25 in pledges. Parents, family, neighbors, and friends can sponsor a student by making a donation of any amount. Donations will be going to the CT Food Share to help end food insecurity in our community. Cash, checks, and venmo will be accepted.
