The season of Advent coincides with the darkest part of the year for us, so we want to celebrate the coming of Jesus, the light of the world, with a weekly Service of Light. For four Wednesdays beginning on December 2nd, we will gather on the patio of FSUMC between 5:30-7:30pm. We know that people have different schedules and different ways of connecting with God, so each Service of Light will include three different expressions of worship. You can join us for one, two, or all three of these times of fellowship.

5:30-5:50 — A family-friendly service featuring storytelling to encourage all ages with the promise of Advent.

6:15-6:45 — A service of testimony and prayer featuring reflections from different ECVers and an opportunity to share what God is doing in each of us during Advent.

7:15-7:30 — A liturgical service of scripture and silence to make space for God’s presence in our midst.

Each of these three expressions of worship will include the lighting of an Advent candle so that we can participate across the evening in one unified response to God’s promises. The Service of Light will be an outdoor event, so come prepared with blankets, extra socks, hand warmers, or whatever you need to stay warm and enjoy the time. We encourage you to consider these different expressions of worship and choose to commit to one of them, gathering with the body of Christ to receive the ministry of his Spirit.
