What Is Church? continues this Sunday with our first teaching from 1 Corinthians. 1 Corinthians is a letter written by Paul to a community of new Jesus followers from various backgrounds. The next three weeks, at backyard gatherings and on our ECV stream, we are going to press into being the Church adopting lessons we see Paul give to the church of Corinth. The first lesson is found in 1Cor12, an instruction on spiritual gifts from the Holy Spirit. What does it mean that God is a giver of free gifts that empower and bless the community, not just the recipient? What do these gifts teach us about God, the Church, and the possibilities of life led by the Holy Spirit?
