This week, we pick up Peter’s story after Jesus’s resurrection and ascension into heaven.  Old words have new life in Peter’s sermon at Pentecost, when he addresses a crowd that is both enthused and cynical at the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in their midst.  This moment marks the birth of the church and is a transitional moment in Peter’s life—a follower of Jesus, now leading without Jesus there. Tori will lead us in an exploration of this change, what it meant in the community that Peter was leading, and what it means for ours.
