Nonviolence 101
From 7:30 pm to 7:30 pmOver the past few years, ECV has grappled with the concept and the work of nonviolence, specifically enacting Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s principles of nonviolence in our city. This work can inform any topic or need for change, but we have used these principles to address gun violence and homicides in our city for more than a year. As our nonviolence cohort (that meets twice a month) has invited you to meetings or gatherings, you may have grown curious about the fundamental principle – nonviolence – that grounds our shared commitment. Tonight, we’d like to invite anyone who would like to learn more or get refreshed on this topic to join us as we explore this clear and simple strategy for practical social change rooted in discipleship unto Jesus. Join the countless others who – convinced of nonviolence or deeply skeptical of it – joined a training that changed their lives, their worlds, and sometimes the world itself. Practically, we’ll cover MLK’s six principles of nonviolence (vision), six steps of a campaign (concrete action), and the Ten Commandments of nonviolence (formation).
