Holy Saturday Healing: A Space for Rest, Lament and Prayer
From 3:00 pm to 6:00 pmThis week, community members from a broad coalition have protested for four days straight for justice and accountability regarding the shooting of Stephanie Washington and Paul Witherspoon. This Saturday, let’s resist in another urgent way: healing through silence, lament, and prayer. FSUMC’s church, the same one where Nelson Pinos has been in sanctuary for 500+ days, will serve as a place of healing and hope. Come for five minutes or come for two hours. Just come and get what you need in a sacred space meant for healing. Holy Saturday, the day between Good Friday and Easter Sunday, represents a time of waiting…with solidarity, confusion, sadness, anger, and even hope. Come make this day mean something to you. This event is co-sponsored by First and Summerfield United Methodist Church and Elm City Vineyard Church. We are thankful to the broad coalition of groups whose activism and organizing have ignited our Holy Week with renewed urgency. More information here.
