Fruitvale Station Screening
From 8:15 pm to 10:00 pmWe are hosting a movie night for Fruitvale Station this Friday, June 26th at 8:15pm! This screening is apart of our #50Days effort of discussing sustainable ways of establishing justice. And we would LOVE if you joined us! FRUITVALE STATION is a film based on the true story of Oscar Grant, a young Black man killed in 2009 by a Bay Area police officer named Johannes Mehserle. The movie traces the events that led up to Grant’s death, and lifts up the issues of violence, race, and police brutality. You can join in TWO WAYS: 1) On ZOOM, and from the comfort of your home, 2) An outdoor screening that you must RSVP for, please email me at deniqua@elmcityvineyard.org (spots are limited) We will follow this screening with a DISCUSSION on SUNDAY, JUNE 28th AT 6:30 PM over Zoom. We will hear a bit about what happened in the Bay Area after Grant was killed, and hear more about this film’s relevance 10 years after his death. You don’t want to miss the screening or this timely discussion! We encourage you to grab a friend and join us how you wish!
