Drawing Near: Artists Respond to the Stations of the Cross

March 29, 2021 7:00 pm March 29, 2021 8:30 pm America/New_York Drawing Near: Artists Respond to the Stations of the Cross

The Stations of the Cross have a long history in the church as artful invitations for people to meditate on the sacrifice and meaning of Jesus’ crucifixion. The fourteen traditional stations are often visual vignettes displayed in sanctuaries as guides for people who want to draw near to Jesus, and encourage folks to physically move along a set path in solidarity with Jesus’ own walk from his betrayal to the site of his death and burial. In this collaboration, different artists from our community have sat with a Station, meditated on a passage from scripture, and responded in their chosen artform. Our hope is that these creative acts might help you too in drawing near to Jesus’ story during Holy Week. This video will go live at 7:00 pm on Monday, March 29 on our YouTube Channel.
