Defined & Connected?

November 16, 2020 8:00 pm November 16, 2020 9:30 pm America/New_York Defined & Connected?

Our ECV Zoom journey on emotional health continues! Last week, we learned some skills and did exercises together to help build peace in our lives in the face of anxiety. One form of anxiety springs from our inability to be “defined and connected.” We wonder whether we have to lie (or be silent) to be included in a group, or whether we feel ourselves being pushy to get our way. All of this stems from an inability to be differentiated from others – to be defined (being ourselves and letting others be themselves) while still valuing connection. In cultures and settings where “niceness” and people pleasing is valued over truthtelling and true unity, we sometimes get stuck and enmeshed and, well, anxious instead of taking on the cost of being set free and united only through the grace of God. That harder path is the one of peace. Interested? Join us for an interactive workshop and practical exercises this Monday at 8pm. Link here. FYI – we’ll end our short learning lab on 11/23 with a look at how our families shape us as we seek peace (just in time for our virtual or in-person Thanksgiving dinners with the fam!).
