Vineyard National Conference Livestream | October 18-21

Our family of churches, the Vineyard, is bringing to completion a major reorganization project with the onboarding of a new national director and the creation and filling of several new national roles– including Josh’s.

Pastors and leaders from all over the US will convene in Phoenix October 18-22 to celebrate God’s work in our movement and look forward to the future.

A number of ECVers will attend in person, but we’re also planning to host livestream watch parties in New Haven each night of the conference (Monday – Thursday). Stay tuned for more info next week!

Zoom Book Group on Whiteness, Privilege, and the Church | Next Meeting: October 27

For over a year, some of the white folks at ECV have been meeting monthly in what we call the Whiteness Accountability Group, a place for us to ask questions about what has been to many a relatively new vocabulary (“whiteness,” “white supremacy,” “systemic racism,” “privilege”), understand the feelings we have around it, and invite God to confront our sinful pride or indifference.

This fall, we’re spending a month working through an excellent new book called Subversive Witness: Scripture’s Call to Leverage Privilege by Dominique DuBois Gilliard.

The first of these discussions happened this past week but we’ll have 4 more meetings on Zoom on Wednesday evenings from 7:30pm to 9:00pm (10/27, 11/ 3, 11/10, 11/17).

Get in touch with Patrick with questions, if you’d like to join, or if you need financial assistance getting a copy of the book before the next meeting (October 27).

Borden House Worship Night | Friday, October 29

Borden House is an intentional Christian community that exists to live out love, justice, and hospitality in the Newhallville neighborhood of New Haven, fueled by the grace of Christ.

Now one of ECV’s partners, Borden House has counted one or more ECVers as members of the community going back several years.

ECV will join the Borden House community and their neighbors for a worship night at 95 Division St in New Haven on the evening of Friday, October 29th.

Stay tuned for more more details!

Halloween on the Green | Sunday, October 31

Sprouts on October 31st will be a space to enjoy some Fall-themed festivities, both related and unrelated to Halloween. Get ready for candy, games, and a costume fashion show!  *Please note: At ECV we celebrate light, not darkness! Please refrain from dressing up as anything spooky.*

Questions? Old candy corn that you’d like to donate? (Just kidding.) Reach out to Kyanna.

ECV College Student Gathering | Sunday, October 31

Students have been a significant constituency in our community stretching back more than 15 years into ECV’s pre-history as a growing homegroup.

We’ll have a gathering for undergraduate students— Yale, Southern, Quinnipiac, UNH, and more!– after church on October 31st at FSUMC (425 College St).

Come Holy Spirit | RESCHEDULED to November 7

Our Come Holy Spirit gathering (originally scheduled for this Sunday) will happen instead after church on our first Sunday back inside FSUMC on November 7th.

Plan to join us to hear testimonies from the National Conference in Phoenix and plans for Holy Spirit gatherings this winter and an opportunity to experience more from God in a time of extended worship and prayer.

Questions? Get in touch with Todd.
